Building This Space

Not a tutorial. Just me figuring things out and pretending I knew what I was doing.

The Idea

Started as a plain old portfolio site. Then I thought about it and realized — I already have a resume and a LinkedIn. Making a whole website just to repeat that felt pointless and boring.

Then my friends and CEO of amrita town (a place where our college students put their own websites) said a site could show more personality than a pdf ever could which is kinda fair. So here we are, a whole website because my friends had opinions and I have zero chill.

There was also a deeply unhealthy amount of "I'll just fix one more thing" happening at 2am. This site is basically the physical manifestation of my inability to leave things alone.

Tech I Used

Went with Astro because it's fast and just makes sense. Tailwind handled the styling so I didn't spend three hours arguing with CSS over why something isn't centered.

Design

Dark theme was obvious coz I'm not a freak. Luckily found a solid template online, loved the animated stars, then went a little too happy with the murasaki (yes that was a gojo reference). No regrets. Spent way too long tweaking spacing and hover effects but honestly that's just called having taste (I'm tired as hell).

What I Learned

Technically not much. But turns out the small stuff hits different. Spacing, timing, tiny animations coz they're the difference between "this is a website" and "okay this actually feels nice." Worth the rabbit hole.

Is It Done?

Absolutely not. I'll keep tweaking, breaking, and fixing things indefinitely, or atleast until college completely consumes my soul. Whichever comes first.
